Overview
This academic project proposes a redesign of the elDiario.es website, a digital news platform with an established online presence for more tan a decade. The redesign of the website was guided by the objective of creating an engaging, simple and intuitive interface that improved the user experience by making it easier to navigate and access the content.
Challenge
The main challenge of the project was to rethink the current interface of elDiario.es, characterised by a high density of information, proposing a new design focused on the user experience, prioritising legibility and reading flow, reducing visual noise, improving visual hierarchy and simplifying access to both breaking news and the platform’s different sections and contents.
Outcome
The result is a renewed website with a cleaner, more structured and more intuitive interface, improving the user’s browsing experience, allowing them to quickly identify breaking news, navigate the content and different sections of the website with greater fluidity and filter displayed information in a more personalised way.
Information
The new interface is reorganised into clearer, card-based sections to group and structure the content.
The use of white space is prioritised to improve readability and identification of different content.
Content is labelled with small colour tags to easily identify its category.
Traditional sections were removed from the website header, replaced by a filtering button that allows users to customise the news and content displayed.
The typefaces PP Fragment and Neue Haas Grotesk Text Pro were selected to maintain a balance between a rigorous informative tone and a more contemporary aesthetic suited to the digital context.
